Israel’s largest political party demonizes Catholics.

While they Israeli media continues to viciously attack Jorg Haider and his millions of fans across Europe, Israel’s largest political party features the Pope with a swastika on one of it’s websites.
Ariel Sharon’s party, Forward, is socially liberal but nationalistic on issues of race, immigration, citizenship, and foreign policy. Forward is allied with two smaller nationalist parties popular among Israel’s Orthodox Jews. Forward represents the more Secular wing of Israel nationalist movement.
On October 20th, Forward placed a picture of the Pope with a swastika over his chest on their national website. Forward cited baseless anti-Catholic conspiracy theories as their reason for attacking the Pope.
The current leader of Forward, Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni defended the image calling it “a legitimate form of protest.”
