At least 140 people died in ethnic riots in China’s Xinjiang province. The people who live there are Islamic Eurasians who are protesting the ethnic dominance of the Han Chinese. This is the second region to see violent ethnic riots in the recent past. There has been widespread violence in Tibet, where the Buddhist Tibetans are demanding a moratorium on immigration by ethnic Hans Chinese.
