Did aggressive pandering to Latino immigrants hurt Ron Paul in Nevada?

Nevada was by far Ron Paul’s worst performance in 2012 so far, in terms of how much he improved over his 2008 score. In Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Florida, Ron Paul scored between over double and over triple his 2008 percentages. However, while Paul spent the most money in Nevada, he only increased his vote by 29% over his 2008 total. Part of this is because he did much better in Nevada in 2008 than the other states. However, his Nevada percentage is lower than what he got in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Paul went from 4% to 13% in South Carolina and spent little time or money in the state. Ron Paul went from 3% to 7% in Florida, without even running any commercials or campaigning in that state. He has spent his biggest share of his campaign budget in Nevada, but only went from 14% to 18%. Paul had been widely expected to beat Gingrich with a strong second place in Nevada. So what went wrong?

A while back Fox News: Latino profiled the strategy by the Ron Paul campaign to win Nevada. They said his campaign leaders were focusing on recruiting Latinos to go to the caucuses and vote for him.

Last week Ron Paul spoke to a Latino group in Las Vegas, and compared Latino immigrants to Jews in Nazi Germany. His speech was probably the most aggressive pandering to a minority group of any Republican candidate in the race so far. Paul also made the thinly veiled calls for amnesty usually associated with the neo-con branch of the Republican Party.

So did Latinos arrive at the caucuses in droves? Did the pandering pay off? Does it ever? According to CNN, only 5% of Caucus goers identified themselves as Latino, even though the state is 25% Latino. 90% of caucus goers identified themselves as white. The polls don’t show who Latinos voted for, but Romney got 52% of the Catholic vote. We can assume that the biggest chunk of Latino votes probably went to Romney.

  • Ron Paul supporters quietly taking over GOP.

  • Democrats are driving away white people

  • CNN Polls: Least credible.

  • Gingrich: Couldn’t vote for Ron Paul for president.

  • The Matzorian Candidate.

I liked Ron Paul until I heard him say that blacks and Prs are treated so bad by any type of law (police arresting them, judges sentencing them…) and whites are treated great. He said that they get the death penalty much more than whites. These statements turned my stomach and put Paul right in the toilet with most of the media. It’s whites like him that are making it worse for the rest of us. I’ve heard some say he was just doing it for votes, but c’mon, Paul had always said just what he feels no matter what, look at his 9/11 comments.

yeah joann, same here, I really like him esp. on foreign issues and the federal reserve, but he’s way off on the other issues as well.

@Joann: Me too. He put me off the day he declared that Blacks and Hispanics get a rough deal by the police and justice department. Some of his message is right, but the majority is wrong and he’s the wrong messenger. He needs to find a porch and a rocking chair and retire.

Does anyone besides me notice that, whenever any discussion of either legal or illegal immigration is occurring between any of the mainstream politicians or candidates – never is the issue of White European ethnic interests broached?

It is as if the White European majority doesn’t even exist. All other ethnic groups are acknowledged to have ethnic specific interests, but not Whites.

Think about how incredibly insane this notion is for a moment. When, and if, Whites are reduced to less than 50 percent of the total population of the nation of their ancestors – then whichever ethnic group or groups who become the new ‘majority’ will have the numerical ability to subjugate the former White European majority to whatever kind of rule they choose to impose upon them. If the new majority wishes to abolish our Constitution and revoke our Bill of Rights, they have the numbers to do so and Whites can’t stop them. If the new majority wishes to increase tax levels to 70 or 80 or 90 percent of our income, Whites can’t stop them because we are outnumbered on election day. If the new majority wishes to impose even more draconian and discriminatory Affirmative Action laws upon Whites and basically drive Whites completely out of the job market, then Whites can’t stop them because we will be outnumbered and out voted. This list could go on forever; in essence, there is NOTHING WHATSOEVER positive about being a minority, and in particular – being a minority ruled over by people who our media teaches to hate, resent, and despise.

And, yet – none of these ‘white’ politicians ever bring up the topic of White ethnic interests in this discussion.

      Why might that be?

Sadly, Ron Paul is the best shot we have got. I seriously question some of his policies as well. He voted to allow homosexuals to openly serve in the Armed forces. WTF! Our founding forefathers outlawed it for a good reason. However, I do believe Ron Paul really stands no chance of gaining the Presidency anyways. The power elite will not allow that to happen come hell or high water. We will end up with the status quo again. I am hopeful that his son Rand Paul will run, but will it be too late by then? And we, white people just become irrelevant by then, will our people even care or will there be enough of us left by then? That remains to be seen

Luke, those possible/probable/inevitable scenarios you foresee are the deliberately and purposely designed GOALS of those responsible for implementing U.S. immigration policy, not some catastrophic blunders waiting to happen thanks to a well-meaning but foolish and incompetent government.
