CA DOT now putting razor-wire on signs
Replacing signs, vandalized by gangs, is costing California untold millions. Most of the gangs in California are Latino.

seriously? news? california has been using razor wire for 40 years. since the first hippie days when white kids climbed up to paint psychodelic pictures covering sign directions. THIS CALIFORNIA, A MISREAD SIGN COULD COST LIVES OR HOURS IN DRIVING. cmon guys get real. there are serious problems here but this isn’r one of them.

May 8th, 2012 at 11:11 amAnd with respect, Dee, I think the CofCC does have a legitimate point. Having a society that does not value law-and-order imposes costs, some big, some small. This is a small, but telling one, whether the miscreants are hippies or hard-core gang bangers. I would argue tolerance for the former opens space for the latter.
May 8th, 2012 at 11:37 amI am not sure this will stop the issue. I think they will probably still try it and get themselves cut up. Then they will sue the state and win their case. It will be considered an “inhumane” issue that CA DOT put up razor wire without thinking that the graffiti artist would not get hurt. The ALCU will see to it.
May 8th, 2012 at 11:38 amActually, this has been going on since the 80′s when “tagging” became popular with colored delinquents. “Chaka” was the most notorious tagger back during that time and his unwanted and unappreciated “artwork” cost taxpayers and business owners many millions to clean up the damage he did while “expressing” himself.
He was eventually caught and then caught again and did do time in state prison for his crimes.

May 9th, 2012 at 1:19 amA critical point in my awakening occurred back in the eighties on the NYC subway system–their posted rules of conduct. “Rule 1: No destroying of subway property.” If you need to stipulate that as a rule of conduct, you’ve already lost the battle.
