However, it was not the only place where one could have learned about that: I expect that far more people were informed of the Milwaukee Fair riot through Drudge than RT. Something to keep in mind is that it is not just the TV news media that ignores the racial strife (accurately identified by a few bloggers as the "Black Intifada") in this country, but also our politicians. A politician could direct media attention to the subject, though it would likely be a self-sacrificing move. He'd need to be a patriot to even consider it though. Perhaps RT's hostility towards the State of Israel is the reason rightists give them special respect.... I don't because I consider that subject a very secondary one. They did do that report, and I am glad that they did. Such as their expose of the Milwaukee Fair race riot and it's coverup by the US media. Usually RT is very left-wing on race, just like the US media. However, the #1 function of RT is to try and make the US look bad. So on rare occasions they will produce a (conservative on race) piece that 95% of the US media would never touch, simply because it shows the US in a bad light. RT does produce a few gems. I have often found myself scratching my head, wondering why RT is often held in any higher esteem amongst rightists than Fox News. This particular piece was frankly disturbing... firstly because the BBC-style of the reporting, and secondly by the use of subtly-loaded language which seems intent to enrage anyone. RT blatantly copies the BBC manner of reporting (emotional language masked by deadpan delivery, emotional imagery, and reduced presence of 'talking heads'), whilst additionally attempting to bait those on the extremes that Faux News and MSNBC would never risk trying for. I don't know why any rightists find such a style appealing. It nauseates me, frankly. RT knows their niche: they want to appeal to strict liberals (who might call themselves "classical liberals") who enjoy being dismayed by their own projects, and to rightist intellectuals who are willing to think too highly of anything Russian and belive the normal English-language media is somehow more censored or controlled. Is is the "grasping at straws" reaction... an attempt to latch onto something just because possibly better, but still ultimately junk.
